Olympus cellSens imaging software packages enable archiving, the analysis of multistained specimens and semi-automated experiments with live cells. Basic and integrated solutions are available for time-lapse imaging, multiple image alignment, high content screening and more.
The IX81 inverted research microscope with advanced UIS2 objectives provides the highest standards of observation and functional operation for research applications, and not only in live cell imaging. A flexible modular automation system enables adaptation for different research purposes through the addition of motorised modules such as condensers, filter wheels, shutters and stages, all of which are controlled by a hand switch or Olympus imaging software. The range of experimental protocols possible is expanded by the flexible multiport concept, which facilitates highly customised configurations.

Modular automation
The fully automatable IX81 has an integrated motorised high-precision Z-drive, motorised nosepiece, motorised lightpath changer and programmable frame keys. Additional motorised modules include condensers, filter wheels, shutters and stages, all of which are controlled by a hand switch or Olympus software.
Dedicated to fluorescence
Olympus multiple fluorescence illumination systems and high-definition ion coated filters provide the highest signal-to-noise performance. The wavelength accuracy, edge steepness and low autofluorescence of the HQ fluorescence filters reveal more detail. Innovative fluorescence detection methods and the disc scanning confocal unit expand the view of surface phenomena and produce live 3D images.
Multiport concept
No other microscope system offers greater flexibility. The IX71 and IX81 microscope frames are designed as an optical bench and are equipped with several illumination and detection ports to enable versatile port configurations for a variety of experimental techniques.
Slim and rigid
The IX2 inverted research frames are unsurpassed in compactness without any compromise to their rock-like stability.
UIS2 - Making the invisible visible
The UIS2 objective series reveals previously unseen details and protects cells from harmful radiation. Superb signal-to-noise performance in an enhanced spectral range delivers maximum signal with minimum excitation power. All contrast techniques for living cells can be selected, including pre-centred phase contrast and relief contrast for accurate and clear, 3D-like images. The flexible UIS2 DIC enables contrast adjustment for thin and thick specimens at every magnification.
Fully motorised advanced microscopy
The IX81 provides the highest standards of observation and functional operation as well as the performance required for accurate research applications. The motorised system can be adapted for different research purposes and provides excellent, customisable solutions for imaging, analysis and manipulation.
